Our miracle RAINBOW BABY BOY arrived 8/2018

1st IVF = BFN
2nd IVF = Baby A, born May 2015
3rd IVF = Miscarriage at 14 weeks
4th IVF = BFN
After we paid for 5th IVF, positive pregnancy without IVF!

Because the important moments in life just don’t fit in a status update! I started this blog when I was training for my first ½ Ironman, (70.3 miles) to record what I hoped would be growth and progress but ended up being a huge learning experience. Although fitness is one of the key ingredients to a happy life, it certainly isn't the only ingredient. My blog has evolved to document growth, progress and setbacks in other areas too. From my surprise proposal in Rome and wedding in the fall of 2013, to Mom's devastating stage IV cancer diagnosis and death 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant. Who knows what shape it will take, but thanks for being along for the ride.

I'm (Still) Pregnant: 2nd BETA Results!

On Friday, I had a beta blood test not just confirming I was pregnant, but measuring the amount of HCG in my system. The number was 232. It is supposed to double every 48 to 72 hours. I waited all weekend for my 7:30 am blood test on Monday, hopeful.

All day Monday, I waited some more. Finally, I called the office and my heart sank when they told me that because they sent out the blood-work, results would not be in until the next day.

This morning I received the best news: My HCG number is 842! This is right in the range that it should be, and is a good indicator that it is not a chemical pregnancy because it is growing! It also indicates that it is likely not twins, thought only an ultrasound will be able to tell for sure.

There are so many hurdles to clear each step of the way, but I am elated that we sailed over this one! Next, we look for a gestational sac on the ultrasound (scheduled for Friday!) and, in a few weeks, a heartbeat! At 12 weeks (or, just under 10 weeks from now) we will really be in the clear, as risk for miscarriage drops dramatically and we will have the results of the blood work which will tell us if there is likely anything wrong with it and, the gender!

I am beyond thrilled to be growing our family. There was a point in time I doubted that I would ever be able to be a mother. Now here we are, possibly creating a sibling for Baby A.

With her, I found out I was pregnant right when Mom was rapidly declining. We heard Baby A's heartbeat the day before Mom died. Mom's funeral was two years ago today. It's not that I didn't enjoy being pregnant with Baby A, I did, but some days she was the only reason I was able to stop crying and look forward.

I'm in a much different place now. I am already enjoying the heck out of this pregnancy and the peace that comes with knowing what lies ahead. Life could not be better right now and I have to say that I think I'm the happiest I've ever been!
